Luckily, the Leeds Graduate Fashion show is back just in time, and stronger than ever, and The Hype is ready to report from the front row. Leeds Graduate Fashion show has made itself a familiar instalment in the city’s style calendar. Originally, the organisers’ ambition was to make the Fashion Show a showcase of Yorkshire talent, designers, and artists. Last year the show featured eight local graduates, and local companies Blonde & Wise and Vicky Martin lent a hand in showing off their collections.  Organiser Sherelle Davidson said of the event; “The LFS is basically a fashion show which gives up and coming designers a chance to showcase their profile and get themselves known around the area, and hopefully in the future within the fashion industry.” “It is here to showcase the fact that we do have talent here up north, and that it is not
absolutely necessary to have to up sticks and disappear down south to make
it in the industry.”
What’s more is that every year the event is run for charity, raising nearly £2,000 last year.

Sherelle added; “This year we are supporting Macmillan Cancer Support - those nurses that helped one of our profiled designers Anita and her family in their hour of need when her father passed away.” And as a new fashion season approaches again, the show is back on for 2007. This year the event will feature six local designers, as well as support from top Leeds brands Kira and Blonde & Wise.  National retailers Slater menswear and Tiger of Sweden have also pledged their support, and they will showcase alongside Anita Forde, Dimple Khetani, Saj, Kelly Ewing and Sherelle herself.   Sherelle said of the group; “We’ve all studied locally, worked in the fashion industry and are all eager to set our fashion labels up, whether that be together as a joint effort or individually.”
