1. Morning daters skip the coffee and head out into the countryside for a breath of fresh air. A walk through Yorkshire Sculpture Park should have your date suitably impressed, particularly when you inform them on the beautiful natural artwork of famed artist Andy Goldsworthy, exhibitioned in the park until January 8. The stunning exhibition features new permanent outdoor commissions, new indoor stone, tree and clay installations, together with sheep paintings and blood drawings in the park’s Longside Gallery. A refreshing look at art. Read up on it at www.ysp.co.uk

2. Come lunchtime, you’re hungry. The wisest daters know that dinner may cost them the donation of several limbs, so eat at lunchtime instead. Indeed, many of Leeds’ most prolific restaurants have a delicious lunchtime menu, especially The Restaurant Bar and Grill, situated in the city’s old Post Office, offers truly breathtaking open plan surroundings as well as an unbeatable lunchtime atmosphere as Leeds’ business brains meet to woo their clients over a varied and delicious menu lending heavily from their evening offerings. Grab a Grey Goose martini at the bar and soak up the atmosphere. Booking not essential for lunch, call 0113 244 9625. |

3. If it’s the afternoon or early evening you’re after, wrap up warm and head out into the darkening evenings towards the romantic glow of the Hyde Park Picture House, Hyde Park Road LS6. You’ll be guaranteed an art house film in the intimate and luxury surroundings of a true vintage cinema. For the perfect view, try for the first row of the balcony, and never forget to book in advance, your date won’t thank you for the queue. Matinee screenings are available.Visit www.hydeparkpicturehouse.co.uk, bookings on 0113 275 2045 6pm - 10pm daily. |

4. If the evening is progressing into the night, you’ll need the slickest of bars to impress. Cocktail bars are no longer the reserve of the yuppie, and no one does a modern cocktail quite like Boutique (Hirst’s Yard, city centre). Choose from a stunning yet tongue in cheek menu, be treated to personal waitress service and tuck yourself away in one of the bar’s cosy, shadowy alcoves and watch the world go by. Recommend the Porn Star margheritas selection; it should at least create an interesting conversation. Find out more at http://www.boutique-leeds.co.uk/home.html |
